Nick Bollea Wants Out Of Solitary

Bollea was sentenced last month to eight months in a Florida county jail after pleading no contest to charges stemming from the Aug. 26, 2007, car crash that left his best friend in critical condition.

He was placed in solitary because the jail was not equipped to house a minor in the minimum-security area, which only holds adults, the court papers say.

Nick Bollea's attorneys requested Monday that he be moved out of solitary confinement, where he is serving his felony reckless driving charge.

Bollea, spends 16 to 17 hours a day in a maximum security cell in a Florida jail where his food is delivered through a slot in the door, his attorneys said in a court filing seeking a transfer to monitored home confinement or the minimum-security area.

"Understandably, this situation creates an unbearable anxiety for a minor in solitary confinement," the papers say.

The confinement at Pinellas County Jail, according to his lawyers, "substantially amounts to cruel and unusual punishment for a juvenile and is not warranted for a non-violent first offender serving a probation sentence."

I'm sure at first he(and his layers&family) wanted him in solitary for protection reasons, but now I guess it's getting to him. I completely understand that him being isolated like that could cause him to have a severe mental breakdown. I guess he's figuring out in the general population it's not really so bad compared to solitary. Him going home would be crazy and unfair because for people who aren't celebs don't get that option.

Nick Bollea's Phone Calls From Jail

Nick Bollea is not enjoying his time in jail--who would be?? But you gotta do your time for the crimes you commit.



The contents of some of Nick’s conversations have been released, and now we can hear a few of the specifics about just how tough jail really is for him. Bollea is being kept in a single cell at the Pinellas County Jail because he is one of only two minors serving time in the adult facility.

The inmates are allowed to talk on the phone as long as they want at Pinellas County Jail – during their free time of course. Nick spends an average of two hours a day on the phone, generally complaining and whimpering to his mom, Linda.

The phone calls began just hours after Nick Bollea was hauled away from the courtroom.

Nick Bollea: “Had I known this, I would have rather gone to trial or I would rather, you know, appeal the case or something. I can’t deal with this for eight months. It’s (his cell) like the size of my bathroom.”
Linda Bollea: “Oh!”
Nick: “No windows or nothing. Just one little top bed thing.”
Linda: “Oh my God!”

Nick: “All you do is sit there and think, and there’s nothing to think about.”
Linda: “We’ll get through it.”
Nick: “Yeah.”
Linda: “Prove to everyone you’ve learned your lesson and be more careful.”

Bollea asks for anything to pass the time, including books and magazines. He even talks about breaking the world record for sleeping and working out in his cell.

I don't feel any pity for him. He has still yet to say sorry to his friend or his friends family who he has left permanently injured due to the car accident. He is so spoiled...what did he think his jail cell would look like--a beautiful mansion??

Hogan's Son Sentanced to 8 Months Jail Time

Nick Bollea was sentenced to eight months in a Florida county jail today after pleading no contest to charges of felony reckless driving, stemming from the Aug. 26, 2007, car crash that left his best friend, John Graziano, in critical condition.

In addition to the jail time, which begins immediately, Bollea, 17, was sentenced to five years probation, during which he will serve 500 hours of community service, not be allowed to drink any alcohol and have his driver's license revoked for three years.

After being sentenced he turned around to look at the Graziano family and said: "I will never ever be able to say I'm sorry enough."

Dressed in a gray suit and light blue shirt and tie, Bollea looked somber as he was taken to meet the court officers. His father, Hulk Hogan (real name: Terry Bollea), stood and watched as uniformed authorities removed his son from the courtroom. Nick did not have a chance to say goodbye to his family before he was taken into custody.

In delivering his sentence, the judge specifically asked that Bollea use his community service to do something positive "that reflects what John did in his service to our country as a Marine."


Felony Conviction to Be Erased
Citing Bollea's age and his lack of any prior criminal record – beyond a series of speeding tickets that the judge deemed as showing a "cavalier" attitude behind the wheel – the jurist decided not to force Bollea into guilty verdict, meaning his "no contest" plea will stand. He also will not have a felony conviction on his record once he turns 18 later this summer.

"I think there is an understanding of what happened, and there is a sense of acceptance of responsibility," the judge said, explaining his decision. "There is nothing that the court can impose that is close to what John has dealt with or will have to deal with as he moves forward."
